The Zoom H6 Audio Recorder – Way better than your Camera Audio!

In this video I will demonstrate the audio quality of the Zoom H6 portable six track recorder with interchangeable Mics.

I shot this video using the Rode NT-1 studio condenser microphone plugged into one of the XLR ports in the zoom unit.

I also take some time to test out and demonstrate the audio form the H6-XY capsule and the MSH-6 Mid/side capsule along with various other demonstrations which are at the end of the video.

If you’re a Youtuber, looking to get better quality audio in your productions, a Podcaster looking to connect multiple microphones in a portable recorder at home or in the field the Zoom H6 is a great option for you.

  • Excellent for recording. I got mine 4 yrs ago. Is there a way i can put a downloaded mp3s or wav files in one of the tracks so that I can play guitar and mp3 backing tracks at the same time?

  • Does this save automatically as you go? My h4n died mid recording and it was a total loss

  • I hooked up a 3.5 input cable to the mic that you show here. The receptical on the side
is convient, but, the mic also picks up sounds around it and records those sounds in
addition to the 3.5 cable sounds. How do I deactivate the mics and just get the input
sound off the 3.5 cable input?

  • wow thank you so much for that last section with the tested audio, i was curious about how each mic set up would sound especially with the sound effects. Do you recommend using the wind muffler (foam thing) on top of XY mic when filming indoors? I have mine on but i'm scared it'll muffle the audio instead of it being as crisp as it can be.

  • thanks for this, cool. Does audio quality decrease if you run line out to camera? I use a7iii and would like to run line out from Zoom H6 but not sure if I'll lose quality.

  • TL;DR – Any tips on how to get the recorded files from the Zoom SD card to an iPhone?

Do you know if there’s a way to get the audio files from the SD card onto my iPhone? I love the H6 and use it to get good recordings of my band’s live performances and practices, but I like to edit things on my phone and would really like to get the audio recordings transferred to it, but I’m not sure if that takes more trouble than it’s worth. I have an SD card adaptor that plugs into my phone, but there’s nothing to be prompted when I put the card in. I also have the Zoom app, but it seems very limited and only used to get recordings using the phone itself. Any info is appreciated!
