I have been experiencing some driver related issues with my rx580 after multiple attempts of reinstalling windows. Apparently, the default algorithm for automatic driver installation is the reason why I couldn't install either my own driver (which I have just downloaded) nor delete fhe one windows have previously installed. The one installed by windows didn't even seem like a proper driver to me, and as soon as it is installed it would result in a BSOD every time I start my pc, and all of this is literally after a complete reinstallation of the operating system. I have also experienced a problem where the driver installed automatically caused the gpu to skip half of the pixel lanes of the display and therefore half of the image not to appear (the resulted image was stretched and with half of the pixel lanes gone, like an old tv looks like). I honestly don't know if I am just so unlucky, but have never run into any trouble when installing a driver by myself. By the time of writing this, my pc is still not fixed and crashes in 10 sec after starting up. Its cool and all that windows helps not so advanced users in keeping their drivers up to date, but for me it seems like the system is just broken and this feature should be completely removed from windows, as for me it just causes crashes every time
thank because my pc will lag if i don't disable auto update drivers.
Those bastards don’t have Devices and Printers as an option. Why the hell would they have settings both under control panel and under the settings app? Down with Windows
10x a lot 🙂
Is there a way to prevent Win7 from trying to install drivers for a specific device? I did the first step when u turn off automatic driver updates but it doesn't give a f*ck about it and still tries to install the dead graphics card effectively giving itself a freeze everytime.. And it's a laptop so I can't just rip it off :')
I just kept on getting audio updates which would remove bass settings
Jeez windows being a smartass drove me nut.
Thank you so much. It take me an hour to disable
Ok, do you know how to make it, so that realtek lan utility manages my usb wifi device? I have it downloaded and installed, BUT, windows wireless manager, automatically disables it, and takes over.. I dont like that because the realtek software, for some reason pulls in much stronger signal than the microsoft. I bought this after market really strong antennae and can't get its full functionality because I cant figure out how to disable Microsoft wireless manager .
I have done the first option and window update continue to install elan driver, this is crazy because i dont want this driver and window update continue to install this stupid driver.. I unistall again this driver but window update again continue to install this driver. This is crazy can you help me?
This way I can't install my drivers.
Does windows 10 installs display drivers auto? I just connected to internet after installing windows 10 then after 2 second reboot my screen resolution automatically changed. Is this normal? Or i got a virus or something.
After my Window 10 Auto update Sound driver My computer sound is too low and now I'm reseting my computer I hate that window alway auto update anything without ask permission 😡😡
thanks it worked for me !
Hi tried that but not fixed can help any other solution? I have Windows 10 home and not have group policy.
DO NOT USE THIS TUTORIAL!!! You will have a hard time trying to install your driver routines for your second GPU. I undid this setting and it worked immediately after I did so.
Thank you
first option doesnt work , it still updates graphics driver to non working driver 🙁
Korg is that you?!?
The setting you chose in the first part of the video is known to have no relation to driver updates. The group policy might work though. I didn't get to test it, yet.
Can you manually install drivers if the group policy is enabled? Having a problem getting windows 10 pro to install the current graphics drivers for my msi gaming x 1050ti system
The mb is older, it’s pcie 2,0 not 3.0. The card is 3.0. Don’t know if that’s relevant. Tried so many options, like going to nvidia directly. Still windows failed to install it.
The drivers windows 10 picked seem to work, but they are over a year old. Might be the best I can do with an older MB. Gigabyte h67, 16gb ddr3. I didn’t try reinstalling windows 10 pro yet, might be my next option using a simple mechanical drive to eliminate any other strange situations..
Hey good video! Thanks for the tip.
Nice Video Brian. Nothing worse than getting interrupted suddenly
Good video and nice tip thanks Brian.
Britech intron music is really irritating man…plz change it
Hi how can i contact with you can you give me your Facebook or email account
For me the most effective solution is: Local Group Policy Editor->Computer Configuration->Administrative Templates->Windows Components->Windows Updates and set "Do not include drivers with Windows Updates" to Enabled.
Britec09 I think all the first method You described does is prevent it for a maximum of 30 days, then it will still automatically install updates. At least on home versions. As far as I know there are no "legit" methods to stop windows update unless You have pro (think even pro eventually demands updates). Even worse there is no "legit" ways to stop Windows 10 from spying and sending data to Microsoft unless You have Enterprise version which is very expensive and for large corporations mainly. There are other methods, as You described in earlier videos, but those methods and 3rd party sotwares might also "break" Your windows 10 and cause problems in the future. That is how Microsoft is trying to force everone into their eco system. With every update they make it harder and harder to bypass what THEY decide that we should do or get installed on OUR PCs that we paid for.
Dear Britec may i ask a question please. Whats the best way keep data safe long term? … safe from file corruption. I dont need to access the data over and over, but it would be useful.
Thank you, your videos are very helpful, I appreciate it.
All the best, kieron
very nice! i'm going to store to buy Windows 10 Pro edition
