NVIDIA Shield TV – Enable Automatic Refresh Rate (Part 2)

I forgot to document the final step in the process of setting up automatic refresh rate changing in the previous video. Part 2 demonstrates how to enable per-app rate changing.

  • I don’t have an auto option on my shield for refresh rebate. Which option is right for showing the frame rate? Thank you.

  • This doesn't work for Hulu Live TV. When it does the refresh change, it goes back to the Hulu home screen.

  • I deleted my comment because I found the fix (it was my error). I do have another question still…when I first click into, say Netflix, it flashes 23.00 first and after the 5 seconds it crashes. When it flashes to 23.976, after the 5 seconds it works correctly and matches frame rate. I think the 23.00 is not compatible or something. Any ideas why sometimes 23.00 registers instead of 23.976? This is for the same content…

  • It's a good feature yet a bit annoying with the constant screen flicker during refresh rate changes. Also gives some HDCP errors on Amazon Prime. I guess if all you are doing is watching movies just set your shield to 24hz and call it a day.
