When I was trying to update the driver it said that the device wasn't working.
This how I fixed this problem
1. Device manager
2. Delete audio driver ( high defenition audio)
3. Restart pc
4. Reinstall driver

Nothing worked for me..still no sound
I was with windows 7 64x , I installed windows 10 64x , and I didn't have sound , I tried all your things and nothing worked , the problem was my motherboard hasn't got a Win10 driver in the (Asus) site for me , so I downloaded the driver for win8.1 and it worked, so the next problem was it has no sound from the front panel when I plug headphones , so I had to download VIA HD Audio Deck and get there and enable the front panel and set the headphones OR the speakers as default device when used (I can't use both of them only headphones or only speakers for some reason) but it worked this way , so I hope to help someone out there !!!
