How To Disable Automatic Driver Installation In Windows 7 / Vista by Britec
Sometimes windows crashes happens because of a bad drivers. Unfortunately most of the time these bad drivers are coming from Windows Update. Because it won’t pick the best driver. So when we troubleshoot BSOD it’s best to disable automatic driver installation so we can make sure we are downloading the best driver from manufacturer’s website.

Thanks man
So my friends laptop has a broken keyboard it's constantly pressing buttons making typing with another keyboard impossible, if I try and disable it then it automatically selects uninstall driver by itself which is lucky because it doesn't give me a look in but then Windows automatically installs it again. If I try to get to the group manager I can't type so is there a way to click my way there on the control panel?
Only supported on windows vista, XP and server 2003/2008. not for windows 7
It keeps reinstalling on my EasyNote TS-11SB laptop with 64-bit Windows 7 Professional, even though I’ve used the first method.
This is great help even in 2017! There is a bad Nvidia Driver pushed by Windows and even though it does not crash the system, it puts an annoying SHUTDOWN icon on the Start button.
Thanks a million for this clear information, keep up this great work!

Thanks again and get some cold drink down ya! 🙂
yeah always good to know work around for this type of issue, I suppose most techs will know about it, but not everyone will.
Yeah can be a pain when graphics drivers go wrong and windows keeps installing them and you don't know how to disable driver installer
Yes if you add new device with automatic driver disabled it wont install that driver for the hardware. Its a good work around if your having issues with drivers and windows keeps installing them.
Thank you
Another useful video, thanks Master Brian!
brill video, had same problem with video card draivers. Thanks a lot!
Thankyou brian 🙂
I had a similar problem donkeys years ago with a laptop and faulty pcmcia slot, winxp could not be stopped on installing a driver for it and the whole thing would crash, even in so called safe mode.
I had to find the driver and rename it and copys in dos to allow windows to run.
Crude methods but i didnt know any other way 🙁
still learning 😀
