Is this the same company that made the classic autobike from the 90s?
NO WAY- $1,000. for a simple bike ? I would rather shift. Its not rocket science !
So.. an additional complicated piece of equipment that might break down. I've never had problems with changing gears.
this idea has already been done. except it was all mechanical. look up classic autobike. much simpler version, and since its 20 years old, you can get them super cheap.
CSA Autobike. Already happened. Had auto shift no brain box, not complex just used centrifugal force and simple mechanism. Works great.
Bikes for "special" people. If you can't shift gears you're probably a menace on a bike and shouldn't be riding one. Stop complicating something that is so simple.
Congrats and good luck. Please make it for more urban cool Fixie type bikes. I think the anti-fashion, anti-trend is fine but u cut out a lot by not making them cool, either retro or current, but cool. BRW, 0:17 That COOL car! Is it a Nissan/Datsun
how many speed hub is it ?
all this needs is a fatbike version and i have no problem handing over my monies
I like it.
''Remember when riding a bike was all about the experience'' well we've just ripped out the soul and added a useless and needless brain on a completely ugly ass bike.
I like the concept. Thirty years ago I commuted 100 miles a week in SoCal, and hundreds more miles a year on fun rides in Baja and SoCal, on a 10 speed Motobecane Mirage. I did all my own maintenance. But now, after a car wreck and limited mobility, I'm more interested in just cruising and errands. Anything that minimizes distractions is a good thing. But auto shifting would need to be adjustable to suit the cadence, which may change with physical conditioning. That's the main concern I have about the SRAM two-speed and any auto shifter.
no, bikes are fine, no one hates changing gears. this is the solution to a problem to a problem that does not exist. think harder homer
Same drawbacks of an automatic car vs a manual car.
The dynamo would sap your effort and reduce your speed, just ride the damn bike and you'll know when to change gears, you dont even notice it after a while like driving a manual car.
Plus how in the world are you going to fix that thing when it breaks? you arent.
why would anyone get this over like the flykly or copenhagen wheel ? both of which make the bicycle able to go 15mph
Will it be avaible as a recumbent bike?
Thanks Auto bike ! This is what bushiness should be about . Helping others with about complications .
I think you have a hit on your hands..the quality is looks great..best to ya, Jerry
For simplicity I'll stick with single speed and fixed gear, but this is an interesting idea for casual cyclists.
Hi Carl! You're welcome to stop by the shop and take one of our bikes for a spin anytime!
But in the meantime, you can check out the reviews by Turbo Bob which are linked in the description of this video!
I would like to see a review of this bike. I am in Michigan and would like to this in action.
We currently have a special offer running for $999.95 which includes free shipping to the continental US.
Is this automatic transmission or that's something else? Explain please.
Yes the control is based on a rider's power output (speed and grade). Ideal cadence changes with changes in either of those variables as you note. Riders have a variety of fitness and skill levels so ideal cadences can vary. So we also enable the rider to choose the type of ride they want, or as you put it, whether they are a grinder or spinner. We have a default calibration but the rider can change that using buttons on the bike itself or via their smart phone using Bluetooth.
Have you taken into account that higher speeds may need a high cadence to counter wind resistance? And can you set the optimum cadence? for example some people like to spin other people like to grind, or is there just one preset?
Shawn, they are $1K with free shipping if you pre-order… check out their website
